A local charity helping people with Parkinson’s has issued an urgent appeal for volunteers as its group faces closure.

The Woking and Weybridge branch of Parkinson’s UK said it is in “high demand” but helper numbers have declined.

The group, which has been running in Byfleet for a number of years, said it needed to fill key committee roles including a chair, secretary, and treasurer to keep operating.

Volunteers “ensure people with Parkinson’s who live locally can access activities that make a real difference to them,” it said.

Zoe Sole, local volunteer officer at Parkinson’s UK, said: “The Woking and Weybridge branch is a crucial support network for individuals in our community living with Parkinson’s.

“Our ability to provide this essential service hinges on the generosity and dedication of volunteers, without whom we risk the discontinuation of these vital groups.

“With your contribution we can continue to make a profound impact.”
